This is my favorite cycling video that I now watch each morning before I ride to get me fired up. It’s the footage of Lance Armstrong from 2001′s Tour de France on Alpe d’Huez and includes what is now known as “The Look”. Half way up the climb, Lance looks back at his rival, Jan Ullrich, seemingly taunting him in a “are you coming or not?” type of way and then accelerates away leaving him behind.
My favorite part of the video though comes about 3:45 into it when Lance is near the finish, all by himself, obviously going to win the stage by minutes and for a moment it seems the fatigue has set in and he’s going to ease up and just coast to the finish line. But in a champion’s style, he gets back up out of the saddle to push it as hard as he can to the finish – so inspiring!
