Riding to the top of Palomar Mountain in San Diego, CA was also on my “bucket list” of mountains to climb. It also served as a great test to see how my training was coming along. Palomar Mountain turned out to be longer than Alpe d’Huez and that experience will be invaluable when I’m in France next month.
But what I learned this day was that climbing Palomar Mountain was more of a mental challenge than a physical challenge. Getting to the top was more dependent on overcoming fear and doubt rather than burning muscles and lungs.
